Geneticists have divided Native Americans into two groups: northern and southern. At some point, the tribe divided, and the Southern Native Americans relocated to South America.

The Northern group originated from East Asia and most likely lived in North America, including Alaska and Canada. They were all derived from the Ancient Beringians, but the split caused variances in their DNA.
